This summer we’re pleased to provide 20 children with lupus (ages 7 to 16) the opportunity to participate in a unique summer camp experience at Lake Hughes, just outside of Los Angeles, at no cost.
At The Painted Turtle, campers have the opportunity to take part in traditional camp activities—horseback riding, arts and crafts, swimming, and archery—specially designed to help promote independence while increasing self-acceptance and self-esteem.
The facility is staffed with volunteer rheumatologists, nurses, and counselors who help campers enjoy their activities while continuing their medical treatments. Children build new friendships that can extend far beyond camp week.
There is no cost for families. Contact Elyse Reyes at ereyes@lupusla.org or 310-657-5667 to learn more.
