The Orange Ball was held on May 24, 2012 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel Ballroom.
The stars were in alignment in support of the 12th Annual Lupus LA Orange Ball! Paula Adbul, Natasha Bedingfield, Kellie Martin (Smooch), Carolyn Hennessy (Cougar Town), Toni Braxton, Verdine White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Nicholas Guest (Mad Men), Sophie Monk (Entourage, Click) and many other stars hit the Beverly Wilshire Hotel for a formal dinner, live auction and musical performance by multi-platinum artist and six-time Grammy winner Natasha Bedingfield.
Natasha Bedingfield performed a wonderful acoustic set, including her songs, “Pocketful of Sunshine,” “Strip Me,” and “Unwritten.”

Performer Paula Abdul introduced Dr. Daniel Wallace, of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and founder of Lupus LA. She told reporters, “Dr. Wallace is my doctor. He’s amongst a handful of doctors who’ve turned my life around. He’s a truly remarkable man, who helps give you hope, and I’m a big supporter of Lupus LA.” Dr. Wallace cares for 2,000 lupus patients at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the largest practice of its kind in the United States.
Two special honorees were recognized for their contribution to lupus care: Dr. Soram Khalsa received the Daniel J. Wallace Founders Award, and Dr. Sudhakar Shridharan accepted the Medical Visionary Award on behalf of Pfizer Inc.
Our very own Patient Services Director, Elyse Reyes, shared her personal experience living with lupus; the audience was visibly moved, especially as she spoke about how working at Lupus LA allows her to both give and receive support from others with lupus.
The event also raised national awareness for lupus with stories reaching nearly one billion readers and viewers of 40 media outlets such as TV’s “Extra,” US Magazine, TVGuide.com, LATimes.com and Examiner.com.
