Lupus LA is excited to honor Hollywood power couple Lauren Schuler Donner and Richard Donner with its 2008 entertainment industry Loop Award.

In the past two decades, Lauren Shuler Donner has established herself as one of the most successful and versatile producers in Hollywood. Her producing skill has enabled her to partner with top directorial talents including Nora Ephron, Oliver Stone, Joel Schumacher, and her husband, Richard Donner, on films that have grossed more than $2.5 billion dollars worldwide. Among her many successes are the X Men franchise, You’ve Got Mail, and Pretty in Pink. She is currently working on several upcoming releases, including The Secret Life of Bees starring Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning and Jennifer Hudson, and X Men Originals: Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman.

Lauren Shuler Donner is a dedicated philanthropist who thrives on giving back to the community. She was on the Board of Directors for Hollygrove Children’s Home until it merged with EMQ in 2006. She has been on the Advisory Board of Women in Film, the Advisory Boards of TreePeople and Planned Parenthood, and the Executive Committee of the Producer’s Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She is serving currently on the Advisory Board of the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame, the Advisory Board of the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Board of Directors for the Producers Guild of America.

Director and producer Richard Donner is the creative force behind some of the most popular movies of the last twenty years: The Omen, Superman, Free Willy, the Lethal Weapon series and Maverick. After moving to Los Angeles at the beginning of his career, Donner won the assignment of directing his friend Steve McQueen for the television series Wanted: Dead or Alive. He continued directing such television series as The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Kojak. In 1975, he directed his first successful major feature, The Omen. His next film, Superman: The Movie, become one of the all-time biggest international hits. In the 1980s, he partnered with producer Stephen Spielberg on The Goonies, and launched one of cinema’s most popular crime fighting duos in Lethal Weapon. The four films in that series have grossed close to one billion dollars internationally.
